HOW TO APPLY FOR TOURIST VISA

Question: I’m  Canadian, I always have a desire to go to Vietnam and I want to apply for one – month tourist visa in Vietnam which allows me to exit and enter each month, so what is the procedure to do such thing?

Visa is a document which is issued by Competent Authorities of Vietnam allows foreigners to grant entry into Vietnam. Vietnam Tourist visa issued with “DL” sign  has the period from 1 month to 3 months which can be used once or multiple times.

In case you want to enter Vietnam with one – month tourist visa (entry and exit each month). At the very first, you must have an individual or organization to act as a guarantee for you  to apply for your tourist visa.

Legal basis:

• Law no. 47/2014/QH13 _ Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence for foreigners in Vietnam.
• Circular no. 04/2015/TT – BCA _ Regulations on specimen papers concerning foreigners entering, leaving and residing in Vietnam.
• Circular no. 219/2016/TT – BTC _ Regulations on charges of use and administration in the fee of entry, exit, transit and residence in Vietnam.
• Circular no. 31/2015/TT – BCA _ guidelines for issuance of visa, temporary residence cards, entry/exit permits and permanent residency in Vietnam

In order to apply for visa, foreigners must have “Vietnam approval letter on arrival” ( “The Letter”) approved by the Immigration authority. After having “The Letter”, foreigners can receive tourist visa at Vietnam international border gate or Diplomatic Missions of Vietnam. The duration for the visa to be approved is about 03-05 working days.

However, foreigners can apply for “The Letter” at Immigration Department through the Individuals or organizations as guarantors.

Procedure:

Step 1: Apply for “The Letter”

• “ The Letter” is approved by the Immigration Department – Vietnam People’s Public Security.
• Documents required for the accomplishment of “ The Letter” application:

+ Guarantee for visa for relatives as foreigners application form - NA3 – this form is used for guarantors as individuals.

+ Official Request for examining and approving foreigners’ entry - NA2 – this form is used by guarantors as organizations.

+ Seal and Signature of  authorized Individual of organizations ( as guarantors ) - NA16.

+ Documents including : Copies of legal files of guarantors as organizations or  documents that demonstrate the relationship between guarantors (individuals ) and guarantees.

Step 2: Apply for Visa

After having “The Letter”, basing on the place that was registered before, foreigners can receive visa at:

• The Diplomatic Missions of Vietnam in the foreigners’ country.
• International Airport or border gate.

Files including:

• Vietnam Visa Application form - NA1
• 2 photos (4*6) with white background, ears and forehead are easy to be seen, glasses are not accompanied.
• Original Passport without any scratch or blurring numbers
• “The Letter” which was received ( a copy of this letter is required at the Diplomatic Missions of Vietnam or International Airport while an original one is required at border gate).

Step 3 :Receive Visa and Pay.

• Visa will be received from places mentioned above
• Note: The fee will have to be paid at the approval department with the rate of government compulsory charge:

+ 25$ for visa which can be used once.

+ 50$ for visa which can be used multiple times under 3 months.

+ 95$ for visa which can be used multiple times under 6 months.

+ 135$ for visa which can be used multiple times above 6 months.
